This policy explains what personal information is collected through the mcmv.ca website, why it is collected, who it may be shared with, and what your rights are.

2. Information You Provide

When you fill out the appointment request form, we collect the following:

your first and last name;
your phone number and email address;
the make, model, year and mileage of your vehicle;
the service requested and the description of the situation you send us;
your preferred date and preferred means of communication;
the photo you attach, if you choose to attach one.

The contact form collects your name, email address, phone number (optional) and the content of your message. This information is provided voluntarily. Without it, we cannot process your request.

3. Information Collected Automatically

This site carries no advertising and uses no commercial trackers. The following is collected automatically:

technical connection logs kept by our hosting provider;
your IP address when the contact form is submitted, included in the email sent to us and used to limit repeated submissions (at most 5 submissions per 15-minute period); the appointment form, hosted by Tally, applies its own anti-spam measures;
the cookies described in our cookie policy;
anonymized usage statistics, only if audience measurement is enabled and you have consented to it.

4. Why We Use This Information

The information collected is used solely for the following purposes:

contacting you to confirm, schedule or change an appointment;
properly preparing the work to be done on your vehicle;
answering your questions and following up on the service provided;
protecting the form against automated submissions;
improving the site based on aggregate statistics, where applicable.

Your information is never sold, rented or traded, and is never used for targeted advertising.

5. Consent

By submitting one of our forms, you consent to our use of the information provided for the purposes described above. You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us. Withdrawing consent may prevent us from acting on your request.

6. Disclosure to Third Parties

MCMV Mécanique does not disclose personal information to third parties for commercial purposes. Some technical providers are involved in running the site:

Our hosting provider — delivery of the website and technical connection logs.
Tally (tally.so) — hosting and processing of the appointment request form embedded on the Appointment page. Tally is a Belgian company; the data passes through its servers before being emailed to us.
Google (Gmail) — requests sent through the forms are delivered to our email inbox, which is hosted by Google.
Google (Maps) — the map shown on the Contact page is provided by Google, which may set its own cookies when it loads.
Google Analytics — website usage statistics, only if audience measurement is enabled and you have accepted it.

Some of these providers may process or store information outside Quebec. We favour providers offering a level of protection comparable to what Quebec requires. Information may also be disclosed where the law requires it.

7. Retention and Destruction

Information submitted through the forms is kept for one year, the time needed to process your request and follow up on the service provided, then destroyed or anonymized. The technical files used to limit repeated submissions contain only a fingerprint of the IP address and are erased automatically after 15 minutes.

8. Security

The site is delivered over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). We take reasonable measures to protect the information you send us against loss, theft and unauthorized access. As no system is infallible, we ask that you not send sensitive information through our forms (social insurance number, banking details, and the like).

9. Your Rights

Under Quebec law, you have the right:

to access the personal information we hold about you;
to have inaccurate, incomplete or ambiguous information corrected;
to withdraw your consent to its use;
to request that the dissemination of this information cease;
to file a complaint with the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec if you believe your rights have not been respected.

10. Cookies

How cookies are used on this site is described in detail in our cookie policy. No optional cookie is set before you have given your agreement, and you can change your choice at any time from that page.

11. Privacy Incidents

In the event of an incident involving personal information that presents a risk of serious injury, we will take reasonable measures to reduce its consequences and will notify the individuals concerned as well as the Commission d’accès à l’information, as the law requires.

12. Website Accessibility

MCMV Mécanique wants this website to be usable by as many people as possible, including those who browse with a screen reader, by keyboard only, or with reduced vision. The site aims for level AA of the WCAG 2.1 guidelines. The following measures are in place:

full keyboard navigation, with a skip link and a visible focus indicator;
a logical heading structure and navigation landmarks for screen readers;
descriptive alternative text for images that carry meaning;
verified colour contrast and support for the system’s reduced-motion setting;
labels and error messages tied to form fields;
content and forms that remain usable even with JavaScript disabled.
